WHERE
Nuovo Teatro Golden, via Taranto 24, Rome. This is a recent and modern building with 400 sits, in the center of the city, in San Giovanni district, whose honor committee is presided by Gigi Proietti. Teatro Golden is also a partner of this initiative , agreeding the goals of the meeting and the future programs of the Federation.

MISSION
It will be presented, for the first time in Italy, the FNTS (Social Theatre National Federation): an opportunity to share experiences, opinions and metodologies between Social Theatre Workers (actors, directors, artists, playwriters…), academic institutions and universities, press workers (drama critics, experts in social play, journalists…) and State Institutions (local boards, administrative representatives, board of health officers and referential organizations). It will be a double occation to promote this debate and to define the professional role of the social theatre worker, that exists in reality from long time in Italy, but only in recent time is going to define itself like a professional role that needs to set specific standards for his work (specific masters in this subject have been already organized by various Italian Universities).

TARGET
Actors and directors, teachers, educators, students; practitioners of youth, social and socio-cultural work; journalists, psychologists, theatre and drama workers; health and therapy workers, administrators and sponsors .

CONTENTS
During the meeting we are going to explore the history, the past evolutions, the possible uses, the fields of application and the possible developments of the social theatre. It will be an international overview with a particular eye to the Italian context. We will present, for the first time in Italy, the FNTS (National Federation of Social Theatre). In the same time it will be defined the National Register of Social Theatre Workers, that would be an instrument of dialogue with the institutional organs in order to reach the official acknowledgment of the social theatre worker professional figure and to define metodologies, agreements, entrance requirements and standards of upgrading for these professionals.

The meeting is under the sponsorship of Comune di Roma and Biblioteche di Roma. On our website (www.federazioneteatrosociale.it) it will be published the schedule of the meeting.

The contributors that have yet confirmed their presence are: Prof. Giancarlo Sammartano, college of DAMS, Roma Tre University; Prof. Giovanna Pini, school of education, Roma Tre University; Cristina Siciliano, vice-president of Armando Curcio Editore; Prof. Manfredi Granese, headmaster of Liceo Visconti in Rome; Massimo Wertmuller, Pino Strabioli and Alessandro Benvenuti, actors; Dr. Federico Mollicone, chairman of the Culture commission of Rome Municipality; Gabriele Sofia, wrighter and author of the book ‘Dialogues between theatre and neurosciences’

We are going to define the complete list of the partecipants.

PRIZES
Prizes will be given to artists and academic representetives for their engagement in the field of social theatre.

SCHEDULE
Morning: Experiences and Speeches of experts in the field of social theatre. There will be also slide shows.

Afternoon: Forum of the social theatre workers that will discuss about this new professional figure and on strategies and metodologies to adopt in order to obtain its official acknowledgment in Italy. The social theatre worker is an expertise in theatre and analogue arts, that uses his methodologies in situations of social uneasiness.

Evening: Theatre with the show ”Sputa la gomma”, a play by P. Palladino, actor, playwriter and director. ”Sputa la gomma”, that has been represented with happening many times in Italy, is based on the real work experience of the author in various theatre courses in uneasiness contests. It is a story narrated through an ironic eye, that opens various possibilities to go more depth into Social theatre worker reality.
